Letter from our new President
Dear Fellow Royal Dames and Friends,
It is an honor and a pleasure to accept the position of President of the Royal Dames of Cancer Research, Inc. I am proud of our organization, the volunteers who donate their time and talent and our mission statement. Thank you for your confidence and support, I look forward to working with the new Executive Board and the Board of Trustees. The participation from our new members is especially exciting, and more new members are joining the Dames every week! Our Fall Membership Luncheon, chaired by Linda Von Allmen and new member, Summer Robertson, will be held on Wednesday, September 30, 2010 at Grille 66 and Bar and twelve new members will be welcomed into the Royal Dames. A fashion show by Zola Keller, "Elegance in White" will highlight this year's Tiara Ball, "The White Ball- White Out Cancer". Please bring your pictures and materials for the Souvenir Journal to the Luncheon.
The Royal Dames' 41st Anniversary Tiara Ball, "The White Ball- White Out Cancer" , the most elegant and glamorous gala of the social season, promises to be an unforgettable evening. The dynamic chairperson team, Sharon Gustafson and her daughters, Shannon Brooks and Susan Rindley, bring a creative talent and high energy enthusiasm to this year's ball starting with a Deco Drive welcome from our partners in the community, WSVN Channel 7. The evening continues with an entertaining cocktail hour, silent auction, dinner and dancing to the music of the internationally known "Soul Survivors". Definitely, an evening of entertainment and FUNdraising to benefit cancer research.
The First Annual Royal Dames Boat Parade Party will kick off on Saturday, December 11, 2010 at the beautiful riverfront home of Sandy and Drew Romanovitz. The Royal Dames of Cancer Research, Inc. will be seen nationally as the cameras roll past our royal blue and gold banner, bejeweled crowns and holiday lighting specially designed to win the shoreline competition. The most incredible views of the Winterfest Boat Parade, fine food and wine and the company of good friends describe the first of many fun-filled Boat Parade Parties.
Returning by popular demand is the Classical South Florida 89.7 Evening. Last year's musical event was so enjoyable, Royal Dame Carol Harrison generously agreed to host another beautiful musical evening.
The unstable economy, especially in the last few years, has not painted a pretty picture for the charity world. Funding the research necessary to discover the cure for this dreaded disease should not slow down or stop - we are so close to that day! The Royal Dames of Cancer Research, Inc. are committed to the fight until D-Day, Discovery Day, the day the Cure is discovered. Your generous support of the mission of the Royal Dames is very appreciated.
Again, thank you for the privilege to serve the community as the President of the Royal Dames of Cancer Research, Inc. I am confident that we are going to have a fantastic year! It's a great time to be a Dame! Have a happy and healthy summer, warmest regards from your new President,
Janet Davis
